Heather Kennedy (Violin) Heather was born in Alexandria in 1983 and started violin lessons with Muriel Dyer at the age of five. She attended the Music School of Douglas Academy in Milngavie, where she studied with Mark Duncan and Edwin Paling. In 2001 Heather was awarded an Associated Board UK Scholarship to continue her studies at the RSAMD. Whilst there she won several violin prizes, including the Robert Highgate Scholarship, the Bessie Spence Prize and the Macklin Bursary. Heather graduated with a First Class Honours BMus Performance degree in 2005, playing the Kenneth Leighton concerto with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra as part of her final exam. She now works as a freelance violinist and teacher. As an extra player with the RSNO she has worked with such conductors as Weller and Lazarev. Heather joined the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland in 1998 and was appointed leader in 2003 for their 25th anniversary tour with Martyn Brabbins, which included a BBC Proms performance at the Royal Albert Hall. She also led the second violins of NYOS Camerata Scotland for their tour to Estonia with Christopher Adey in 2005, and was invited to represent NYOS in orchestral exchanges to Spain and Japan. As first violinist of the RSAMD Ceoil Quartet she has attended chamber music courses at the Banff Arts Centre in Canada and at Trondheim in Norway. She also attended the Mendelssohn on Mull festival in 2005. Recent engagements include the solo violin part of Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante with the Highland Chamber Orchestra, recitals in Perth and Crieff with guitar and flute duo Alma Nueva, a violin and organ recital with organist Philip Sawyer as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and a recital in Newtonmore as guest violist with the Alba String Quartet. |

Louisa Gard (flute) Having recently performed at the prestigious St. James' Church in Piccadilly, London, Louisa is establishing herself as an exciting young performer. She has performed as a soloist and chamber musician for a variety of concert organisers including the The Travellers' Club (Pall Mall, London), Epping Music Society, Braughing Music Society, Holy Innocent's Music Society, Hertford Music Society, The Old Malthouse Music Society and Southwark Cathedral, London. Future engagements include performances for the Yatton Music Society, Redbridge Music Society and the Theydon Bois Music Society. In addition to the concert platform she has also performed at such highly respected venues as Leez Priory, Claridge's and Grosvenor House Hotel, London and The Balmoral (Edinburgh). |

Barbara Misiewicz (Cello)
Born in Elblag, Poland in 1986, Barbara studied at the K. Wilkomirski National Music School with Russian cellist Oleg Studnicki for twelve years. During this time she took part in a number of national and international competitions, including the Malbork Cello Competition and the Justus Johann Dotzauer International Competition in Dresden. In 2005, Barbara was accepted on to the BMus Performance course at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, to study with Robert Irvine. She has played in many high profile events and masterclasses with noted artists, including Moray Welsh, Louise Hopkins, Wolfgang Schmidt, Michael Flaksman, Johannes Goritzki, Melissa Phelps and others. She was a soloist at the opening concert of Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum in 2006. Recent concerts have included performing in the Festival in Schwetzingen, Germany, the Winter 2006 Scottish Ensemble tour of Scotland and performing with the Orchestra of Scottish Opera. In June, Barbara took part in the Mendelssohn on Mull festival, where she played chamber music with musicians from all over the world. Future arrangements include both a symphonic concert (Edinburgh Festival Symphony Orchestra) and solo recital during the Edinburgh International Festival and Brechin Festival. She plays on a fine Florentine cello kindly loaned to her by RSAMD. Barbara would like to thank the Dewar Arts Awards who support her studies. |
